Dr Patel was very professional and personable. He explains things clearly and comprehensively. He guides you to focus on the present and the here and now rather than worry so much about the future. Saying that he is honest and practicle but reassuring at the same time.

Dr Patel from the first time I met him was listening to my concerns and diagnosed me straight away. He was very helpful all the time and while under his care he was always at hand. Everyday I was in hospital which was for 9 days he came to see me every morning before 8am. Can’t think of any constructive feedback as was under the best care. Thank you

My clinical interests are in minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulosis. I also specialise in treatments for perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula and anal fissure, as well as general surgical conditions such as hernia.
I graduated from St George’s University of London in 2000. I completed my specialist surgical training in the North West London Deanery. This was followed by two fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital London and the London Colorectal Fellowship (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and University College Hospital).
In addition to my clinical work, I have wide research interests which have been established through my MSc in surgical science and a PhD both attained from Imperial College London. My research focuses on collaboration, leadership and mentoring in healthcare, which has culminated in numerous peer-reviewed publications in a broad range of surgical disciplines and international and national conference presentations.
I currently work as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at Watford General Hospital and Spire Bushey Hospital.
